I'm trying to install v 9.3, and I need a password. I had 8.3 and still have some files, but I don't know where to find the password. It should be what was already put in, "dbpass", but nope. Tried the "trust" method, nope.

PostgreSQL 9 will not be able to connect to your 8.3 databases - you will need to backup in 8.3 and restore in 9, but that shouldn't affect the installation of 9. The default password that PT3 sets up for the 'postgres' user is dbpass, but if you have used another tracker you could try postgrespass instead.
