Unable to connect to this database. Please check the conf...

Postby bfmaceio » Sun Mar 27, 2011 4:30 pm

I didn't manage to use pokertracker due the following message: "unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration".

Then the configure postgresql appears with the data:

server: localhost
database user: postgres
port: 5432
password: dbpass

My windows is the vista version.

would anyone help me, please? :)

thanksssssss!!!

Try the password "postgrespass" instead.

Have you used PT3 successfully before, or is this the first time you're trying it?
Is PostgreSQL installed on the computer? Click Start, type services.msc and press enter. Do you see PostgreSQL in the list? Can you start it?

I'm having the same exact issue. I uninstalled both pokertracker and postgreSQL and reinstalled but I get this same error and support is taking forever to get back to me. Can someone please help?

When you say reinstalled - did you reinstall PostgreSQL as well as PT3? If you uninstalled PostgreSQL manually you'll need to reinstall it manually as well - our autodetector won't work if you've previously installed and uninstalled it. We have a tutorial on reinstallation on our documentation page.

What version of PostgreSQL did you have before you uninstalled?
If it was a different major version (i.e. 8.3 or 8.4), did you make a backup of your database and restore it after you reinstalled? Databases from a different major version will not work.
If you had v9 before, did you install with the defaults (or at least the same settings) in both cases? If you installed on a different port or with a different password then you will need to change that when you connect.

i used 8.4 before. And installation was done by default settings only. But backup is not a concern. I just want to start fresh. So what settings do i need to change?

So which database are you trying to connect to? PT3 is probably trying to connect to the default database, which won't exist any more. Are you given an option to create a new database?
Please attach a screenshot of what you see to a Support ticket and we'll help you get back on track.

problem solved! check the PostgreSQL 9.0 setting again and found that port was 5433 instead of default 5432. Made corresponding changes in PT3 and is working perfectly.

Thanks a lot whiterider! :)
