Coming Soon: PokerTracker 4
What's not coming? Adequate documentation and ease of use.
You'll never get another dollar from me. I'm switching to HEM.
I'm just too tired of trying to get this crap to work.

Sorry to see you go, but that is OK - we only want you to be happy, and if PokerTracker isn't right for you then its something we regrettably accept. Although we try really hard to find the perfect balance to please everyone, we accept that it is not possible, no matter what we do there is a risk of leaving some people behind accidentally. I recommend you use their 15 day trial, you may find it harder to use than PokerTracker, at least this way you can test first before committing. We have a lot of players crossing over from their platform lately because of what they say is a lack of support and documentation, I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, nothing wrong with testing the water to see if the cost is clear. Good luck!

PS: PokerTracker 4 will be the most documented piece of poker software ever written, I can assure you of that, we have contracted a noted poker author to make sure that this is the case. Additionally we are partnering with many third party companies to create video tutorials for those of you who don't like to read documentation. Add our stellar support team which is trained to find solutions and fix your problems, it will be a hard combination to beat IMO. We rarely hear bad things about our support staff.. but the praise can be deafening at times.

Yes, I understand the workaround; not surprising, Bodog has the worst software ever. The big issue with using the HUD always on top function is that the note box that pops up after hovering over the note icon is obscured by the on table HUD elements. If you are forced to continue with this workaround for PT4, could you please fix things so that the note pop up appears on top of the on table HUD elements? Thanks!

We are experimenting with leaving the note editor on top of the table, there are pros and cons to this method though - for example if the note window is always on top we might risk interfering with our user's game. The more feedback we here from players, the easier it will be to make a decision how to proceed - what say you PokerTracker users?

We were planning on recording a new video today, but we hit a snag because our lead developer's home is in the path of Hurricane Irene. This will slow us down by at least 5-6 days due to additions that are needed to be added for the video so I predict either next Friday or a week from Monday - not guaranteed, but that's a good prediction. The topic will be how PokerTracker deals with currencies other than the US Dollar - for many of you this will be a eye opening video to watch once it is done!

PS: For those of you wonder, the alpha of PT4 currently uses around 64 megs of ram without running any tables... a competitive product that is soon to be released requires almost 1/2 meg of ram. I think that tells you a lot about our development philosophy: Keep things fast & efficient - no bloatware!

No, you misunderstood. The note window pop up should only appear as the topmost element displayed when one hovers over the note icon. During the rest of the time, the note window pop up will not be active, and therefore the relative depth of its placement on screen does not matter.

to further clarify for WhiteRider: When you purchase an upgrade from Micro to Full Version of PT3 your registration code remains - we complete the upgrade for you remotely by activating it from our servers. Unfortunately this means an upgrade does not qualify as a new purchase.

Thanks for the quick reply, guys.

Huh, I completely understand the mechanics of it but... do you think it is fair?

Especially if you consider the update is the same price as the micro product itself - if not more expensive (I bought mine with discount).

My choices don't look bright: refrain from moving up limits or invest in a product I already know is outdated and in which I will have to invest again in a couple of months...

I think if one updates now one should *at least* get the PT4 update for free (i.e., pay the proportional/discounted amount to update PT3micro to PT4micro, then get the free update from PT4micro to PT4full).

+1 on that one. I belong to that group of people that want to upgrade their products and that approach doesn't seem fair at all. If it is not a new purchase then why does money fly out of my bank account? I think you should look into that a bit more cause i feel being "cheated" and neglected as a customer, belonging to that specific group.
For that matter to be addressed the best possible way in my opinion is for you to get an estimation of the price ranges of upgrades to PT4, new purchases etc. so that we know what we are dealing with, thus our conversations will have some kind of basis and wont be just complains.

I was only addressing when the note editor is open for typing, not when it is being viewed without editing. We have addressed the note viewing issue already, it looks great and works exactly as you requested.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but there was an interesting discussion on the now defunct FTP forum about a year ago concerning both (IIRC) PT3 and HM1 consuming great quantities of RAM; typically 500-700Mb. On my system, PT3 and HM rarely use more than 125Mb and typically operate at, or sub, 100Mb. Interestingly, those of us using VMs tended to have better RAM usage whereas those with Win 7 and all the bells and whistles tended to RAM out.

Just an FYI post.
