Before I re-install the system, forgot to back up SQL databases, so cause of the current database can not be used. Is there any way to restore the SQL database?

Ok in that case, all you should need to do is install PostgreSQL manually and point it to that folder - once you do that when you restart PostgreSQL everything should connect properly.
sorry , I did that like you said to re-install the SQL8.3,but it tell me this "the existing data directory (data/time setting:floating-point numbers)is not compatible with this server(data/time setting:64-bit integers)" what's the matter?
PS:The original database is installed in the XP system, but now I use windows7 32-bit
it's still not working. what's the meaning of "one click installer"? if I have the Program which named postgresql-8.4.9-1-windows.exe. and I click this program and install it . is that right ? but I chose the data folder like you said it has a same error.
