'cannot connect to database'

Postby Hampson1986 » Tue Dec 06, 2011 2:14 pm

Hi,

I have just purchased PT3. I had previously (a while ago) downloaded and utilised the free trial.

I have installed PT3, however, I kept getting the message 'unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration.'

I have read the help guide and thus uninstalled postgres from my computer and re-installed the same.

I then tried to connect to PT3 and got the same error message.

Please help, as I am unable to connect to PT3 and have purchased the full version.

Kind Regards,

H

Click Start, type Services and locate PostgreSQL from the list - is it running? If not, can you start it?

Hi I received support and was asked to completely remove the Postgres and manually reinstall.

I have attempted to do this, but there was the following error message:

'failed to run initdb: 1!
Please see the logfile in C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\tmp\initdb.log
Note! You must read/copy this logfile before you click OK, or it will be automatically removed'

I have checked the logfile and it says
'The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.'
I would be grateful for some advice as to what the problem is/ how it may be solved.

Kind Regards,

H

I don't see a reply from you in your ticket - please try accessing your ticket via your My Tickets page and responding using our web form - we can be 100% certain the message will arrive in that case.
