None of these passwords worked for me, are there any others I can try?

If you installed PostgreSQL manually you would have set the password yourself, or if it was installed by another application you will need to find out the password from there.
If you don't know it and can't find it you can remove the need for PostgreSQL passwords: How To: Remove PostgreSQL Password.

I have Windows 7 and when I search programs and files for postgreSQL it's not listed as being installed. So I think postgreSQL isn't installed yet, hopefully you can still assist me, and if not point me in the right direction.

When I try to install, the 3rd step is to provide a password; it says if the account does not exist, it will be created when you click 'Next'. But when i click 'Next' I get a message saying 'You must enter a password to continue.'

Ah, OK - we use "dbpass" as the default password, so it's probably best to stick with that.

If you have any problems with the PostgreSQL installer please follow the "how to reinstall PostgreSQL" guides here.
