Hosted Database

Postby RayWilson » Tue Dec 27, 2011 4:52 pm

Hello,

Can someone tell me if PT3 works OK using a hosted database? I use PT3 at two locations and don't really want to upload hand histories between the systems all the time. I did a search on this forum for "hosted database" and "remote database" but it didn't return many results and none explaining if this setup was advisable.

I am also using the PT4 Beta, would a hosted database work better for this? Can anyone recommend a hosting provider?

Thanks for advice.

The main issue would be latency - a database hosted over the internet is a lot slower at responding than a locally hosted database. PokerTracker expects the responses at the faster, local speeds, so you may experience some delays with things like HUD updating.

It should all work, it just might feel a lot slower than you would otherwise expect.
