Completely new to PokerTracker. 2 Problems....

Postby Ghartman » Sun Feb 05, 2012 7:39 pm

Hi Guys,

Apart from the 'PokerStrategy Elephant' which, if you're familiar with it, is very basic and simple to use, this is the first serious hud/tracker I have ever used so please bear with me. I play on iPoker and I got a free registration code for PokerTracker via a PokerStrategy promotion. This software is truly fantastic and has already started to help me fine tune my game so I am eager to get it fully working at 100%. I managed to install the necessary Postgres version and set everything up successfully. Imported my hands (which are in 2 separate partitions on my HDD) and everything is fine. There are 2 questions I have though:

1) Do I have to manually update my latest hands via 'Play Poker' --> 'Get Hands From Disk' after every session? Isn't it supposed to automatically update, or have I not configured it correctly? I tried clicking 'Get Hands While Playing' but it started to list every hand I had observed even though I have unchecked 'Import Observed Hands' in the import configuration tab. I also have 'Get Hands While Playing' checked in 'Site Configuration'. Any further assistance would be much appreciated.

2) The most major problem....No Hud at all! In about 4 hours total in game, the hud showed briefly for about 10 minutes with all the wrong names of people on the table! I set a couple of extra stats under the 'Table Groups' tab in 'Hud Profile Editor' then clicked apply and ok. Is it something I have to configure in 'Hud Options Configuration'? Either in 'Number of Players Filtered' or 'Refresh Rates'? I'm a bit stumped and, although I am familiar with a lot of the stuff in this software, it's a a bit overwhelming for a newb lol...

If anyone can talk me through it that would be great. In the meantime I'll have a look at the setup instruction manual link to see if there are any tips in there.

Thanks in advance

Yes it should update automatically if you've got it set up right, if it's not importing while you're playing the HUD won't pop up.

If you go the configure tab and click on iPoker and then click auto detect it should find where your hand history folder is located for you. If it doesn't you'll have to click add and then locate the folder manually. Once you've done that make sure the 'get hands from site while playing' box is checked, then click OK.

Click Play Poker tab, then Get Hand's while playing, which will start the import process, and you should be up and running.

Thanks for your quick reply! I'll follow your steps and, if necessary, re-import everything if I have to. Interestingly I pressed auto detect before and 1 of my 2 hands folders disappeared and only the current folder I'm using now remained...Not sure if that is related to anything I may be experiencing. Anyhow, I'll try your suggestion.

Thanks

PS Do I have click the 'Get Hands While Playing' button before every session?

Yes the autodetect is not 100% reliable, if you want to be sure add the folders manually

Ok Thanks,

It's running now. I added the 2 folders again manually. The Table hands seem to have imported ok but I've got like 178 errors with the tournament files at the moment. Things like:

Any ideas. Sorry to bother you...I've got 1 folder on the D Drive and 1 on E Drive. Can PokerTracker handle this?

Thanks

Not a clue what any of that means, but in my experience if you get the odd error popping up it doesn't affect too much. Not really sure if 178 errors is a lot, depends on how many tourneys you imported.
Can't think of any reason why PT wouldn't be able to handle folders on 2 different drives.

Much appreciated,

I'll just leave it running then. So, after this, when I click the 'Get Hands While Playing' button, it will just update the latest hands will it? I won't have to do this every time I want to play?! Last question I promise lol!

Thanks a lot for your help

Yeah, just click the button and play. It sounds like you've got it set up properly now.
