Noob in trouble

Postby beezleboss15 » Wed Feb 22, 2012 8:46 am

Hi long time player, first time user of pokertracker and I'm struggling big time. At first I couldn't connect to my database so instead of taking the sensible solution and consulting a guide, I instead elected to uninstall PostgresSQL and am having trouble reinstalling it. I've tried the live CD and the binary code and I've also tried reinstalling pokertracker but to no avail. Can anyone help this poor rook? Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you looked at our uninstall/reinstall guides for PostgreSQL? They are available here. If you have and you're stuck at some piece, let me know where you're stuck and what error you're getting and I'll be happy to help you figure out what to do next.

Thanks for responding. I clicked on the link in the guide to reinstall PostgreSQL and it's a dead link. I tried to follow a different link and it had me trying to sign up to a 60 day trial lol. Do you know of any working links for the download and would you mind posting them please? Thank you.

Which guide were you looking in? I'll make sure we get that fixed.

If you let me know which version of PostgreSQL you need I'll gladly get you the right link.

There's the link.
I may as well just tell you the story so we know where we are. Basically I installed hold em manager on my computer, which automatically installed postgreSQL, I then purchased pokertracker and when I tried to connect to the database it said incorrect password. In hindsight I now know that's because the password was set at something different but at the time I was unaware of this so uninstalled postgreSQL.
So basically I don't know which version I need and feel quite out of my depth with this software right now, to be fair my attempts to rectify the situation on my own were quite short lived but I just found myself getting more and more frustrated with everything I tried.

It's ok - we won't hold it against you! You are certainly welcome to try out everyone's software.

The version of PostgreSQL you will want is 8.4 and you can get it at this link.

PostgresSQL is installed fine, the database is configured and I've set up pokertracker to import hands from pokerstars, but it still is not receiving my hand histories for some reason. Been fiddling about with it for the last couple of days and I just can't seem to get it working. Any ideas what the problem may be here?

Please make certain everything is configured as explained in our PokerStars Configuration Guide. That should help you set everything up properly. If that does not work for you, please restart PT3 using the Logging Enabled link on your Start menu, reproduce and report this problem so that we can investigate further for you.

Please make sure that you're using v3.11.11 Beta which works with the recently updated PokerStars software.
3.10 will not work as it was released before the PokerStars hand history format was changed.
