What happens to my Hand History when I upgrade?

Postby chaote » Tue Mar 27, 2012 5:39 pm

Hi Guys,

I have 5 days left on my 60day trail of PT3 v 3.11.8 beta. I'm very happy with the program and will certainly buy it soon. For now though, when I use it I get a window, when I first start it, that tells me I can download the newer version: 3.13.2 beta; which I haven't done, for fear of losing data.

I just want to get some reassurance that when I download/buy the newer version, that all my hand history will be imported to the newer version automatically. Am I right in assuming it will? Do I have to do anything manually? Same goes for anything I may or may not have to do with PostreSQL. Please tell me what I need to do, if anything there too. Basically, I want to upgrade, and I don't want to lose any of my hand history.

I've only been playing on PokerStars, and will continue this way for awhile.

Thank You for any help, John.

You don't need to worry about your data - we will not harm your data with any updates. All you need to do is download the installer, close PokerTracker and your Poker sites, install the file and restart PokerTracker. This will get you all of the latest bug fixes and (since you're coming from 3.11.8) Zoom support. This is the same procedure for all of our upgrades within the PT3 or PT4 line (going from 3 to 4 is a bit more involved - but it does leave your 3 data where it is, it just takes more time), and we will never put out an upgrade that intentionally damages your data. Any time there is a large database update that will take time we will always warn you about it as well in the release notes - and in PT4 we will give you the option of making a database backup before the update starts just in case there are any problems.
