Installation Problem

just managed to download poker tracker, then it said i need to download postgras sql, so i did that, now as im installing it ive come to a stage where i need to enter a password for the postgress database superuser or something, got no idea what password that is though....any ideas?

the actual screen is:

please provide a password for the database superuser (postgres) and service account (postgres). If the service account already exists in Windows then you must enter the password for the account. If the account does not exist then you will create one when you click next.


Well i have no idea what account it is on about, but when i click next it tells me i must enter a password. Help would be appreciated. Cheers

PT3 should install PostgreSQL for you automatically, but if you are installing it manually then you'll need to enter the password yourself.
We normally use 'svcPASS83' for the service account and 'dbpass' for the postgres user - for a full walkthrough of the installation process check out the uninstall/reinstall guide in the Documentation.

I had the same problem. I downloaded trial version of PT and durning the instalation postgreSQL was not installed automaticly. Then I downloaded it from here but same message like gwhiz91's appears. When i try to put a password it shows an error "The password specified was incorrect. Please enter the correct password for the postgres windows user account. " That is my first intalation of PT and i have not postgreSQL on my computer. I would be grateful of some help too.

If you installed PostgreSQL manually you should enter whatever password you put in during the PostgreSQL installer - that will be the one that works for you.

Hi. i can't complete the installation process as i have persisting problem. it
gives me the following error message: Service pgsql 8.3 failed to start.
Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service. where's
the problem? can you help?

Please check our Firewall Guide as sometimes a firewall or anti-virus software can interfere with PostgreSQL.
