THE FILE ON THE DOWNLOAD PAGE IS NOT INFECTED! I wish people would stop saying this because it's not true.

The problem is, it's your word against an increasing number of AV program.

People are taught rightly (to an extent) to put faith in their AV program, don't turn it off, etc. It's easy convincing people that a particular program is giving false positive, but not when more and more is detecting it.

And I also stated that tested both downloads with my AV program and the fact that the new patch works when I didn't change one thing other than to recompile the install. So I don't appreciate you adding this kind of response because all it does is fan the flames of people freaking out because of this issue.

You only ckechek the patch "patch21702.exe" with McAfee and you found it virus free.

Untrue. I checked that file but I also downloaded it to a clean computer, INSTALLED IT, and ran the AV against all of the files that were part of the patch, no virus found. Not only that, I downloaded the full install, extracted all those files and tested each one of them too.

On the other hand I scanned the file with 32 AntiVirus programs and as you can see on my
previous post, 6 of them detected Rbot infection.

Did you send the suspected EXE file to any of these companies to ask them to check to see if there really was a virus??

Furthermore your rebuild version of the patch "21702_new.exe" does not give any infection alerts.

Yes. I did this because 2 months ago, when there were false positives given (by F-Secure which they later admitted that there was no virus and they had to update their program) this is what I did and it stopped giving the messages so I figured I would try it again.

I don't want to keep arguing this, it's getting nowhere. These AV programs don't like the software protection (Armadillo) that PT uses for some reason and they flag it as having a virus. I'm going to get Derek to update the patch file with the new one anyway.

I had AVG find a "Trojan Backdoor_c.LND", the recompiled patch does not have this problem.

Also, I would be willing to bet money that pat is right about there being no virus in the "not-recompiled-patch".

Sicne you rebuild the same files in your new patch how can you explain that the
"false alerts" disappeared? It doesnt sound logical.
Furthermore since we cant agree on that. I am going to take the time to analyse
by my own the first patch that seems infected and post again soon.

PS. And let me make something clear.
We have 2 stories here. One with false alerts on "pokertracker2.exe" like the one
with F-secure 2 months ago. In this story I agree with you.
The patch "patch21702.exe" is a different story and its where disagreement rises.

I can't explain it, all I know is I did the same thing 2 months ago and it worked then too.

compiled and before posted to the download page. So put the recompiled patch
in the download page and also some apologies from "PokerTracker Software Company"
would be nice.

How about you send the ptrack.exe file you claim has a virus to these AV companies that are claiming there is a virus in it and send me their reply saying that there really is a virus in the file??

Also, while you are at it, send me the email address you used to purchase PT because I have no record of this email you are using for the forum.

We are on a completely new server today compared to two months ago.

We have thousands of dollars of security hardware and software installed protecting our servers.

There was NO security breach nor was this FALSE POSITIVE in any way dangerous to any of our users.

If you do not believe us, please submit the file to an anti-virus company for review. We are 110% sure that there was no virus in the patch file.

Best regards,

Derek
