Database Install on Mac OS X 10.5.8

Hi folks!

I have enthusiastically bought PT3 Omaha/Holdem and tried to install it on my Macbook, as I'm playin online on PS exclusively on this laptop.

The install of PT3 went great, up to the point, where it proposed to install PostgreSQL for me. Now this is where it gets tricky.
Download of the program succeeded, but then we get to the point, where it should create a new DB on my Macbook which always leads to the following:

unable to login to database (PT3_xxxx_xx_xx_xxxxxx) - reason:could not connect to server:connection refused(0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCPT/IP connection on port 5432?

So I tried - after looking it up in some forums on the internet - to install the server with pgAdmin 3 with the same success:

unable to login to database (PT3_xxxx_xx_xx_xxxxxx) - reason:could not connect to server:connection refused(0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCPT/IP connection on port 5432?

As the troubleshoot of PokerTracker only explains how to start or stop the server on PC, I was a little lost, so I searched my macbook for an hour, to find, that I have an icon in my Systemsettings that is called "PostgreSQL Server". Clicking on it, let's me know, that my Server is currently not running (by displaying a big, red "Stop"-Sign). Hitting the big, green "Play"-Button, demands my masterpassword, but sadly leads to no result, after typeing it in, Server still is on Stop and pushing Play has no effect what so ever.

So I've spent the next few hours searching forums about this strange little serverprogram and even found out, that some computernerds (no offense, I admire thouse skills) are even able to set up the server manually (by useing the console and typeing in some strange alien-language, I don't even understand if I turn my head upside-down).
But my lousy attempts doing what they did, of course, lead to no result either.

So, now that you all know, that I'm a total noob with my little macbook, I'm begging for help:
PLEASE! Someone help me. I'd be really disappointed, spending 160$ on a program, that is not even running properly (because of the opensource-shizzle that goes with it ^^).

Thanks in advance, and please excuse my spelling, but I'm no native.

Greezz

In Applications -> Utilities run Console - are there errors listed there relating to PostgreSQL? If so, could you tell me what they are?
