PT3 and PostgreSQL have crashed on Mac.

Postby Shamwoww » Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:28 pm

As i was playing, i noticed some tables didnt have the HUD display showing beside players' names, or that the hand count wasnt updating as each hand is played.

I researched the problem and restarted PT3. The problem remained.

After some more research i see advice to uninstall postgreSQL but now that leads me to where i am.

As i try and reopen PT3, i get a msg

"Unable to connect to PostgreSQL database: PT3_2012_08_05_081656
Reason: Unable to login to database (PT3_2012_08_05_081656). Reason: could not connect to server: No such file or directory Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"? "

I have zero clue what it means. Any help please?

That means that PostgreSQL is not running - if you open the PostgreSQL folder in Applications and Start Service, does it start successfully?

I apparently missed that you uninstalled PostgreSQL - you will need to reinstall PostgreSQL in order for PokerTracker to function properly. PostgreSQL is the database program that is used to store all of your data - PokerTracker cannot function without it.

Reinstalled and go to start PT3 up again and get this message;

"Unable to create PostgreSQL database: PT3_2012_08_06_071615
Reason: Unable to login to database (template1). Reason: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "postgres""

I go to App > PostgreSQL and have these options:

"Application Stack Builder
"Documentation (folder)
pgAdmin III
Reload configuration
SQL Shell (psql).

I tried again and realised the password was incorrect and that was stopping me from creating a DB. Now it has successfully created but when i go to paste my HH's in to the folder to show hands on opponents, it says;

"PokerStars: Unable to load hand history file...

...Unable to begin feeder import process. Reason: Unsupported database type"

Did you reinstall the same major version of PostgreSQL that you previously had?
On Mac PT3 installs v9.0 by default and if you installed a different version of PostgreSQL then any existing databases won't work. Try installing 9.0 again and see if that works better.

Update to previous post in case you saw the original: The Mac version actually installs 9.0, and I have edited my previous reply.
