Could it be that the patch is for version 2.17 and since I had 2.16 they aren't working together and I need to upgrade to 2.17? If so, lead me to where I can do that.

When does it do this freezing? If you can see the version number it must be opening.
What email was used to purchase the program? I have no record of this one used for the forum.

I have restarted my computer as requested, after having installed the new patch for PokerStars but I still get the message for Poker Tracker v2.17.02a the "This program is not responding". This message appears as soon as I try to open PT, so I am unable to navigaate at all within the program.

I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say what is my email number when I purchased PT but it was purchased on November 16, 2005 (at least tha's the date on the email from "Your RegSoft.com order has been authorized!") and they gave me "Your Order Number is 11162005-66156-12943".

I'm not sure of the version of PT I was using before installing the May 9 patch, but it was an updated patch for PT version 2. Can you inform me of a way I can find that previous version number that may be hidden on my computer?

Restart the computer and download/install the patch again and see if it opens then.

As requested I restarted my computer and downloaded and installed the May 9 patch for PokerStars. I am still getting the same unresponsive message when I open Poker Tracker. PT immediately freezes and when I try to close it I get the message "This program is not responding."
What do we try next?

Does it say anything in the lower left hand part of the window when it comes up. Normally it will say "Ready", does it say anything else?

What was the previous version of PT you were running? If you had been using a very old version of PT it may be trying to make some fixes to the database that have been added in various patches if you had been using an old version of PT.

Are you using a PostgreSQL or Access database?

How long have you left it running before you killed the process?

When I try to install the patch I get an error message "the setup files are corrupted please obtain a new copy of the program". What should I do?

In anticipation of questions you may ask:

My current version of the program is 2.17.01g

I have tried restarting my computer and running the patch and that didnt work.

I'm using multiple access databases.

I've installed patch 2.17, but the problems are still the same.

I'am using Vista.

There is nothing wrong with the download file. Try using a different browser to download the file again if need be.
