Tournament Reports: Rebuys Unaccounted?

Postby tmemmerson » Sun May 11, 2008 3:33 am

I recently imported approximately 700 tournaments into pt3b11. When I was reviewing the "total buy-in" for rebuy tournaments on stars, it appears as though only one buy-in is accounted for. For example, in a $10+1 rebuy, total buy-in would display $11, despite multiple buy-ins or add-ons. Is there a way to remedy this?

With this problem, in addition to the necessity to manually import each tournament summary, PT3 tournament summary components seem to have less emphasis in the software development.

I hate rebuys, but recently played one and had the same problem. In my case it wasn't too hard to go in and manually enter the # of rebuys and add-ons for me (but the ROI for all my competitors was wrong).

Anyway, as far as pstars goes, I don't think they can do anything about this. I looked through the hand history and wherever I rebought chips, nothing was mentioned. Same for the tournament summary. I suppose the PT3 folks could program it so whenever your chipstack jumped without being in a hand -- it would count it as a rebuy or add-on. But even that would be problematic because if you go bust you can do a double rebuy in one swoop. And in my tournament, the add-on either cost less or gave more chips (I can't remember which).

My problem is that I run multiple rebuys simultaneously and scattered throughout the day. I cannot keep track of the total buy-ins for each. There must be some way that such comprehensive software can account for this.

I have already preregistered and purchased V3, and I shudder to ask, but is there a competitor software that CAN absolve this problem? Without having these details, tournament summary is next to useless, as it really does not give accurate information.

I also have a second question. V3B11 stops displaying hud stats whenever I click configure to "display stats only from current blind level," has this problem been previously addressed?

I've always used the pokerdb to keep track of my tournament stats. It does a good job and has quite a few details.

If the site doesn't write in the histories or summaries when the user rebuys, it's very difficult, if not impossible, to extract this information.

Do you have a minimum hands required set? If it's too high and you don't have many hands from the current limit, that would cause no stats to appear. Maybe check your player ranges too.

This isn't true - I'm looking at my Poker Stars hand history files and the rebuys are included in the file.

Here's a sample hand history:

Surely PokerTracker could import this - withought this imformation PT is next to useless for rebuy tournaments

The problem is that you will only have partial rebuy information from the hand histories - you will only see those rebuys that happen at tables you're at. A player who joins your table later in the tournament may have rebought several times but you won't have seen that.
Please attach some example files to a Support ticket and we'll investigate further.

I hadn't thought of that aspect, that you wouldn't get all the other players' rebuys, however having your own rebuys and addons would be of enormous benefit.

However, I've just been looking at some more hand histories and discovered that although your own table's rebuys are logged, your add-ons are not written to the hand history file.

Add-ons do appear in the chat window - would it be possible for PT to monitor that without breaking any of PokerStars rules?

We'll look into it; I think that may be possible.

I'd like to second this request.

We need our rebuys and addons so that our profit/loss statements are correct. I personally don't care at all for other players, but do need my own tracked.

Cheers
