Problems importing hands

Postby dragosh3loo » Fri Sep 28, 2012 1:43 am

I reinstalled PT3 a couple of days ago and it worked fine for 3k hands, but now since i played my last session it won`t import, show hud or work properly.

At the beginning of the session i let it run, it worked ok for 5 minutes but then it just stopped importing. Hands are saved in a PS file ( pstars is not installed on the computer properly, hence it cannot be autodetected but hands are saved in a folder ).

So after importing 51 hands, Hud crashed, pt3 won`t close and reopen and on the autoimport section in the Import status i get
PokerStars: Loading hand history file xxxxxx.txt and it`s the name of all the tables i played at, but they won`t import hands and it won`t load anything.

I tried manually importing but it was loading very hard, and it eventually got stuck at 25%, also the available remaining space on the partition i chose to save hands on was going up and down with aprox 1gb, every couple of minutes. Computer works ok in every other aspect i don`t think it has to do with my specs since i ran 1mill hands on it perfectly fine before. Now i started a fresh DB a few hands ago, fwiw.

Second, if i request all HH from Pokerstars from the last week let`s say, how can i import those HH into PT3 ??

Sorry for the long read, i appreciate any kind of help. Good luck !

LE: since i selected to enable Logging, a few more tables appear to be loaded in the Import tab, but no hands are loaded into stats. PLEASE MOVE to technical support :D

If you're not using v3.13.11 Beta please update - PT3 Download Page.

If your files still won't import please report your problem and include one of the hand history files which doesn't work so that we can find out what is wrong.

Installed latest version of PT3, tried everything but it just won`t do.

Also tried with manual import, files show up in files imported, but hands imported show 0 and they have been running for some time :?:

So guys, first off i would like to thank you for the prompt responses.
I made it work by uninstalling PT3 and postrgres, reinstalling them and making a new postgres DB. it worked just fine, importing and showing hud ;

BUT today it stopped importing hands minutes before i ran out of space on the hard partition where pt3 and postgres are installed, i had 8gb free space before starting the session. i know i have to modify some .inf from the postgres files, but last time i did that i ended up building a new DB :).

Secondly, as i asked earlier, please help me import hands that i requested from PS, received via e-mail hundreds of them. Am i able to copy paste into notepad and import hands in PT3? As i do this, manually importing -> import from files, it doesn`t load any hands...

Thank you for all your time, have a good one :)

First: Take a look in your C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\x.x\data\pg_log folder (where x.x is your version) (also it may be in program files x86 if you're using a 32 bit version of postgres). How large is that folder?

Second: Those hands should be able to be copied and pasted into a text file. Make sure the file doesn't have extra spaces at the front of every line though; I've seen that happen a few times based on how some email clients do their copying.

first: Well, pg_log has 0 bytes, but overall folder has 34.9gb, with base folder having 19gb. As i close PT3, disk space builds up slowly but then it drops from time to time.

second: i have tried deleting every space before the actual hand, tried copying only one hand in notepad but they failed to import. File was imported, but it just no hand imported.
Also, is it possible to import into PT3 more hands in a single notepad ? like the HH PS sends, without setting up hotmail. Using a notepad and copy pasta :).

Thanks a lot for your time, below you have an example of a hand.

That hand imports fine for me. Make sure you save it as a plain text file (e.g. use Notepad), NOT in a Word document or anything like that.
If you're still having problems please attach the file you saved to a Support Ticket so that we can find out what is wrong.
You can paste all of the hands from the email into a single text file.

Ok, will try to do that later.

What can i do about the problem i get from importing hands and running out of space because of postgres taking up over 30gig?

Thank you again for taking your time.

That folder gets bigger as you import data because that is your actual database. The more hands you import the bigger it needs to get - there really isn't much else to do about that.
