Configuration problem

Postby SGB5000 » Sat Jan 26, 2008 11:38 am

I have had to uninstall postgreSQL this morning and am now having problems re-installing.

On service configuration screen I get the following error:

"Your local 'Administrators' group contains 'Service Users'.
This is a common configuration error that causes security issues. For this reason, PostgreSQL"

I think some of the message is missing and have no idea what to do!

If you uninstalled PostgreSQL, make sure you delete the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL directory and run "net user postgres /delete" from a command prompt (Start -> Run, "cmd" <enter>).

I have already done that. The error I get is after I have deleted all postgres files.

You have also deleted the user? After running that command, did it tell you the operation was successful?

What happens if you let PT3 install PostgreSQL for you?

I have installed PT3 and when I double click shortcut (running as administrator) a 'Configure PostgreSQL Server' box appears. At the bottom it asks 'Need PostgreSQL Installed? Click Here!' wnd when i click I get this saying 'Please use the main MSI file to install Postgre SQL'

I have also tried to install PostgreSQL from PT2 instructions and get same error.
