Go to the Start menu and select Programs > PostgreSQL 8.2 > pgAdmin III

Right-click on the red X near the top left part of the window and select "Connect" from the popup menu.

Enter your p/w when prompted.

Do you see a list of your databases now? If so, click on it and on the right side of the screen, what is the value in the "Username" field?

That looks like the database name, what value is in the "Username" field on the right side of the window when you click on that database.

fatal: role "posgres" does not exist

It looks like you have a typo then based on the previous error you posted.

Open the Utilities > PostgreSQL Settings window and change the user name to "postgres" and save the changes.

You don't need to convert again.

Now go to the File > Maintain Database Names window.
Click the Add button.
Enter a description. Check the "Dflt" box. In the last field choose "Select existing PostgreSQL database" from the list.
Now on the window that opens, select your PostgreSQL db.
Click OK to save everything THEN CLOSE AND REOPEN PT and you should see your data again.
