A few newbie questions about PT4

Postby DvaiDoSvdnya » Mon Apr 01, 2013 1:31 pm

I've been playing a little on and off, but never used any poker tracking software, so please forgive if my questions are a little silly.

So I'm still trying to figure the program out. First, it uploaded all of my old tournaments and their stats.
I searched and found out how to remove (purge) them and so I did as I want the stats to be based primarily on the new 1$ MTTs I intend to play.

TL:DR
Question 1: I just played 3 1$ tournaments but their results do not reflect on PT when I click "refresh". How are the stats imported?

Question 2: I've just created an HUD profile, but have not started a tournament since, will it automatically be reflected on my PokerStars table as I start one?

Question 3: Probably the dumbest, as no matter how much I searched I couldn't find an answer. There is no VP% graph when I go to tournaments tab on PT. I see ROI%, ITM%, ADJ and BUY (I haven't read up what the last 2 are), but I don't see VP% and I can't find where to activate it. Basically how do I add a VP% graph?

Thanks to whoever can help me out! :)

So I figured out how to import my stats.
Play poker -> Get hands
So far so good:)

Edit: Aaaand I figured where to see the Ev graph. Under Graph -> Display Hands Played -> Winnings in Chips
Woohoo!

However started another tournamed -> no HUD shows. Guess I need to re-launch the tables from PT.

You don't need to launch the tables from PT4 to get a HUD but you do need to have Get Hands While Playing running. One thing to make sure you have set up as a tournament player is that in PokerStars you have it set to save your tournament summaries via Options -> Tournament Summary Options and that the folder listed there is shown in PT4 in the Configure -> Sites & Import Options -> PokerStars area - that will fix your tourney results problems.

Got it all working marvelously till a certain point. I was running two tourneys and suddenly realized that only one of the tables was showing the HUD while the other wasn't. Also the HUD wasn't updating the stats. I restarted both Stars and PT, even launched PS from PT "Play Poker" tab, continued playing and pressed "Get hands as I play". There was no reaction from PT even though it didn't hang. No hands were shown on the page and no tourney info updated. As I completed the tourneys I restarted my pc and did the same thing again, trying to get data from my last 2 tourneys, but nothing. When I press "Stop getting hands" the button goes grey and nothing happens.
What may be the problem here?

Add on: after the "Stop getting hands" goes grey I try to close PT, but it hangs and I need to force quit it.

Figured my SQL was 9.2 and that was the reason. Reinstalled everything with 9.0 and that solved the problem! Just in case anyone encounters similar problems.

On a side note another question: if I am not at home and wish to play a few tournaments from a different PC, can I download PT and PS and would my hands be seen on PT on my own laptop later on? Thanks in advance!

All databases are local so you'd need to bring your hands from that other machine to your normal machine and import them with the Get Hands From Disk function in order to get the data into your main database. Similarly, on a second machine unless you made a backup and took it with you you wouldn't have your data there.

Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it. Any plans to make the program account-based? As in I need internet connection to play anyway, wouldn't be a trouble to have to log in to PT every time, but then my hand histories would all be in my account. Kind of handy, innit?

Then we would need to be hosting data, which we currently don't do - which would be a huge infrastructure change for us. We would also need to make sure that the throughput to your computer would be sufficient to get you all of the data you want in a reasonable timeframe which is a non-trivial task (and would likely be impossible for people playing things like 24+ tables).
