Playing on different PC

Postby zooroaster » Thu Jan 31, 2013 3:26 pm

I have a Mac micro PT3. I am currently unable to play my main site with a Mac; if I use a friends computer (a PC) can I download and use my PT3 on that computer under my same account?

Yes, though unless you get your hands on that new machine you won't have any data there - the data is all locally stored on whatever machine you are using. You can use your registration code though; each code is valid for use on up to two machines of yours at any given time.

Also, if I use this but ever get a new computer, I can still you the registration on the new computer just not more than 2 at any given time?

You can find your registration codes on your My Codes page.

And yes, old uses don't count against you, it's just the number of currently existing uses.

A long bump here... :)

I had PT3 from a MAC. I will be changing to a PC in about two weeks. Can I...

A. Upgrade to PT4 on a PC version? I'll still get the discount?

B. Import my stats from MAC to PC or is that a huge hassle in itself?

(A) Yes, our registration codes are independent of operating system.
(B) Some stats don't work properly when importing from PT3 to PT4 but you can give it a try - if you tell me a bit about the kind of stats you have I can give you a better idea how likely they are to work properly.

Oh I just meant that I wanted to import the entire data I have from computer to computer. I wasn't sure how difficult it would be since it was going from a MAC to a PC.

If you're going from the same version (PT3 -> PT3 or PT4 -> PT4) the backup and restore process is cross platform. So if you want all of your PT3 data the easiest thing is probably going to be backing up PT3, bringing the file to the new system, installing PT3, restoring the backup then converting it to PT4. That will bring across manually entered tournament summaries and all of the notes you may have on your opponents and that kind of thing.
