Can't install PostgreSQL

New user of poker tracker 4

Trying to install PostgreSQL but it won't install.

I get the following error message

"The PostgreSQL installer did not complete successfully"

Please help

Please note you posted in the PT3 section. Are you using the default PT4 installer for PostgreSQL or are you installing another version? If you're installing another version, please note we do not support 9.1 or 9.2.

I am using the PT4 version which I downloaded off your website using the stable download link.

The postgreSQL version I am attempting to install is version 9.0

Click Start type services.msc and click on it when it appears. Look for the Secondary Logon service. Is it running? If not, right click on it, click Properties, set it to run Automatically and then Start it and try installing it again - that can fix this kind of problem.

Try creating a new folder in the root of the C drive, call it PostgreSQL and try installing to that folder and let me know if that works any better for you.

Attempted that and still have the same error.

Right click that folder, click Properties and go to the Security tab. Do you see the postgres user in the list? If so, click on them and make sure they have Full Control over the folder. If not, click Edit -> Add -> Advanced -> Find Now, find postgres in the list, click on it, click OK and keep accepting to get back to the place where you can give postgres full control, and then try installing to that directory again.
