database update.

Postby FireMedic815 » Mon Jun 03, 2013 11:21 am

I started to update and it has been 6 hours now. How long does an update take? I only have approximately 15,000 hands of data.

What version did you update to and what version were you updating from? That sounds like a very long time for that little amount of data.

I bought the product on April 2, I think it was version 4.04 and this new one is 4.08, it has been 10 hours now, still updating, but my computer did go into sleep mode. The first five hours were constant updating. How bad would it be to stop the update, save my hand histories to another folder and then purge my hand histories from pt4 do the update again and then import the hand histories back? I don't know if that will work, just wanting to expedite the process. I appreciate any help.

Given the number of updates required from 4.04 to 4.08 you are probably best off ending the process via Task manager, creating a new database in 4.08.3 and reimporting your hands. At this point, I'm fairly certain that's going to give you the best results. With just 15,000 hands it shouldn't take that long to import them all - even at 10h/sec that's only 25 minutes.

Thank you very much for your help, I was getting very frustrated with the amount of time it was taking. I will try and keep up on the updates so I do not encounter this issue again.

I am also have major trouble updating from poker tracker 4.04 to 4.08. I have tried updating database for nearly 7 hours and have tried again after purging all hands and it has been 2 hours of the same. this is seriously pissing me off

The database has gone through many changes from 4.04 to 4.08.3 - honestly what might end up being the fastest and easiest thing to do for you might be to just create a new database in 4.08.3 and reimport your hands into it. How large is your database (roughly)?

Go to the Play Poker page, click Get Hands From Disk and choose the directory with those files you exported. For a 20k hand database, this will be much faster than going through the updates one after the other.
