B2: Party: Blind defence & steal stats

Postby WhiteRider » Sun Jan 27, 2008 12:35 pm

Could you please clarify your definition of a blind steal?

I ask because the stats are quite different in PT3 from PT2 (and actually, in previous alphas, the steal attempts stat used to be the same as PT2 but is now much higher).
I've identifed a few hands which are causing differences in the stats, and they are hands which are a steal situation, but from early or middle position, not from the button or cutoff as I thought a steal had to be.

I also have a hand which counts as folding my SB to a steal when UTG raises and there are 2 calls before it gets to me.

Finally, does a penalty blind interfere with whether a steal attempt is possible?
I have a hand where I attempt a steal from the button where there is no action except the penalty blind checking.
PT3 counts this as a steal attempt (and I think this is fine, just want to check..).
[i1h9]EDIT: I've just re-read your response to one of my early support tickets (#128) which states 'I don't consider it a steal if it's called before it gets to you.'
I have a hand which is called before it gets to me, but PT3 counts as folding to a steal attempt.
I've added the HH to ticket 128.[/i1h9]

If you think any of these cases are bugs rather than correct behaviour, please let me know and I'll create a ticket.

Let's define it now.

A steal attempt: Open raising in the CO/Button/SB position. I'm not sure what we should do about dead blinds. I guess it could still be considered a steal attempt. Less likely to succeed, but still an attempt. Thoughts?

A steal defense: A steal was attempted and it folds to you. If the CO open raises and the button cold calls, if you are in the small blind, this is not considered a steal defense opportunity.

Yes, I agree with your definitions - that's what I thought they were supposed to be.
In that case, I have some hands which PT3 is incorrectly counting as steal opportunities. I'll attach some to a ticket.

I think you *should* still count it as a steal attempt if there is a dead blind.

Will you be adding a filter for hands where there is a dead blind?
I can't see it so far.

The filter will be added. It's not there yet.
