beta worked, now it won't launch

Postby p111431 » Fri May 16, 2008 1:34 am

Was using the beta trials without problem. Now after starting commercial trial - I get this error

Unable to create PostgreSQL database: PT3 DB
Reason: Unable to login to database (template1). Reason: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "postgres"

of course the window that would allow me to put the proper password in is dim and the program spits me out.
    Please advise. THanks.

    almost the same problem here.

After a response from support, I uninstalled PT3 and PostgreSQL but no change at all.

I also tried to install PT3 and PostgreSQL on another system that has never been in touch with PokerTracker software before and the same problem appears.

    Anyone an idea?

I'm not sure why this would happen now, but there is a way to remove the need for passwords:

Why does the commercial release use the default database name by force? In beta I could choose what database to use. Now I have to guess what database name PT3 searches and make one.. That's just stupid.

Ok I read the restrictions. But I still think this is stupid because it difficults the transitions from beta to commercial.

I tried that already but didn´t work

What makes me wonder is, why the second PC shows the same error.

Please enable logging, reproduce the problem, then attach the PokerTracker.log file to a support ticket. Be sure to reference this thread.

I can´t enable logging, because PT3 is not starting at all. it always freezes on the "Configure PostgreSQL Database" window. No chance to get behind this.

My apologies. Please open the following file in Notepad: C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\Data\Config\PokerTracker.cfg. Change the Logging=N line to Logging=Y. Save your changes and start PT3 back up.
