Recovering Database from broken laptop hard drive?

Postby Majik93 » Sat Dec 21, 2013 8:08 pm

Hi
My laptop's motherboard burnt out few weeks ago.
I now have a new desktop computer with the laptops hard drive running as a slave drive, allowing me full access all my old files & data ect.

My question is how do i transfer / recover my old hand history database?
Iv got PT4 & postgres already installed & as said before i can access any file from that hard drive.

Just seems complicated & i don't want to mess anything up.
Any help would be appreciated as i had roughly 100,000 hands or most likely more.

Thanks.

If you only had imported hands, and hadn't taken manual notes on players, and you didn't customize your HUD, stats or reports, then all you need to do is import the hand history files from that drive -- they're in C:\Users\<your user>\Appdata\Local\PokerTracker 4\Processed by default. Just importing them (via Get Hands From Disk) into your new PT4 installation would be sufficient. If you've done some (or all) of the above, let me know which and that will help me tell you what's the best next step for you.

Thanks for the reply. Done what you said & am currently importing all of the hand from that disk. Not bothered about the HUD but i did have alot of manual player notes written on the actuall poker clients like PS & FT. Will the notecaddy notes like 3Bet range ect automaticly be re made with the import?

Manual notes are stored in the database so if you're not able to recover the databases then you won't have those, but the NoteTracker notes will be recreated automatically when you re-import - it will take a while to recreate them all though.
