Quick and simple question about big imports

Postby whateverer » Sat Jan 18, 2014 3:43 pm

Hello.

I want to import 1,5M+ hands.

If i convert PT3 DB do i need to run housekeeping, and if yes, which ones (i have a bit of customs stats there)?
Or if i import them directly do i need to rebuild cache etc?

I can see fall in performance after big imports, but searched through forum with no clear answer.

Ninja edit:

If there is no housekeeping done ini PT3 database, do any of the answers change?

Housekeeping is done automatically in PT4 and there is no need to run anything manually (although doing Cluster and Vacuum/Analyze once in a while may help optimize things).

Yeah, i know, but after big imports i can see hud slowing down and populating graphs stats also takes longer.

Vacuuming and clusteing improves that A LOT (at least for me).

Vacuum/Analyze should be covered regularly under the default configuration but you can always do it more; it shouldn't take all that long. CLUSTERing obviously takes longer, and it can't hurt, but you won't see big differences if you do it often.
