BTW

It has moved on overnight, however in the last 8 hours or so it has only moved on to processing hands around 01:00 on the 5th. I don't know if this is local time or server time.

Throughout the whole of last year I only had about 120k hands in the database, however this year I have ramped up my volume and have about the same again already.

I have been using PokerTracker for about 3 years now, but previous years would be less volume still.

Looking into the size a bit more, most of it seems to be in the cash_hand_player_statistics table, which is 26GB with indexes of 18GB

Should this table really be 93% of the overall DB size?

Thanks,
Rob.

Those indexes definitely seem bloated and that could well be causing the slowdown. Given how long it's taken and how small the database is I'd suggest ending the process, running REINDEX via Database -> Database Management -> Housekeeping, and then re-running the currency change after that. It should finish much, much faster. And almost certainly faster than letting it run from where it is now.

For what it's worth, I've also consulted with a developer on this and he agrees this is the right course of action.

OK, the reindex is off and running but the estimated time is "Unknown".

Any ideas how long this *should* take on a reasonably fast machine? (64 bit Windows 8.1 With i7 3.4Ghz Processor and 8 GB ram)

REINDEX done! Took about an hour and a half and the index size has gone from 18GB to 316 MB

Thanks again all, I'll try and do the currency convert now and let you know how it goes.

It should be much better now! Let me know if it isn't. Sorry for not giving you an estimate on the REINDEX time, but I knew it wouldn't be that long ;)

Reset it back to USD and all done in about 3 hours.

Think I'll leave it now!

Thanks again for your help guys. :)
