Are you sure that you pointed the data directory to be c:\PostgreSQL_Data and not the old data folder?

Did you restart the computer?

Go to the Start > Settings > Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services window.

Find PostgreSQL in the list. Does it say it's started? If not, try to start it, what happens, does it give an error?

Yes, I pointed it to the folder that I created on the root of C. When I try to start it from the Services panel it hangs for a long time, than a message comes up that the the service has started than stopped. Some services stop if they have no work to do. For example, blah blah blah.

What version of PostgreSQL were you using before? Was it 8.2 or was it something else?

Is there a postmaster.pid file in this folder now at least =>> c:\PostgreSQL_Data

When did you convert to PostgreSQL? You've never made any backups of your database??

No, I have a postmaster.opts though. And no, I have never backed up my db  I only have 65,000 hands in it though.

Anyway, I want to install pt3 and I have my hand histories backed up. Should I just dump the sql, pt2, and just start anew with my saved hand histories?

If you still have all your hh files then you could just import those all into PT3 instead of converting the PostgreSQL database to PT3 format.
