Comparing reports

Postby nyloft » Fri Mar 27, 2015 1:44 pm

There used to be a simple one-click 'export to new window' button in - well, in everything - but I'm specifically wondering about the 'reports' tab. I used to use this to compare my play between stakes or between time periods. That doesn't seem to exist anymore and my only recourse is a screen cap, which - in the longer reports - necessitates multiple images as I scroll right.

I've tried the the little hard disk icon in the left options menu, but this saves the report as a PT4 file which not even PT4 can open.

I've tried right-clicking the report to save it as a .csv file (why isn't this an option on the little hard drive icon?) but my speadsheet opens that file as gibberish. (I'm using open office.)

I used to be able to hit a little button on the lower right and open the report (or graph, or summary) in a new window, then change my filters and do it again to compare the two side by side. I don't understand why this feature went away, what it was replaced by, or how I'm supposed to easily do this in the future.

Thanks for any insight....

Open office should definitely import CSV files - make sure it has the comma set as the delimiter.

The "show in a new window" feature does not exist in PT4 at this time.

And to import a report into PT4 you go to My Reports and click the disk icon at the right (of the three icons) in the left hand sidebar and choose Import there. That doesn't import the data in the report though just the structure of it (and any custom stats required for the report to function).

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, this is stuff I already know. Most notably, I know that Open Office SHOULD open the .csv file correctly, it just doesn't. I'll go back and check that the delimiter is set correctly (though, that should be the default, hence the 'comma separated value' and all.)

The importing advice isn't particularly helpful, as I'm not trying to import a report. I'm trying to get two different reports (or the same report with different filters) up on the screen at the same time to compare them. This used to be easy. Now I have to use multiple screen caps or physically write everything down. Any thoughts on how to accomplish this more easily?

for example - in March, I'm crushing 10nl and breaking even 25nl. I want to pull up my own leak tracker report (which is saved) and filter it for 'this month' and each of the stakes and then look at them side by side to see if there's a difference in my play. PT3 did this no problem. I have no idea why the feature was removed in this version, but it'd be nice if it came back - or if you could suggest another workaround.

A screen capture of the report is the simplest workaround I'm aware of - that's effectively the same as PT3 did since you couldn't do anything with the data once the report was opened in a new window IIRC. I agree this option is useful though, and I will remind the development team about the request for you.

Thanks, WhiteRider. I guess I'll continue doing it that way. The screen capture workaround is a little messy because most of my reports don't fit in one window, so I have to capture the first half of stats and then scroll over to capture the rest.

Thanks for keeping the improvement in mind!
