I then:
1. Downloaded the service pack 1 and installed that.
2. I unzipped the downloaded version postgresqk version 8.2.7-1. (was this right?)
3. I then got to alot of questions where i tried to put in passwords etc.
4. When i was finishied i tried to start pokertracker 3 and it said that the password wasnt right for creating a new PTD3 database or whatever.
5. When i had tried all the diffrent passwords i had used and written down when installing and still didnt work i got to the bright idea to unistall the whole shit to try to add the passwords one more time, becouse obviously i had some password i didnt know about.
6. When doing the same thing again and trying to reach my target it taliks about that im about to create some kind of database cluster, which apperantly seems to be a bad thing.
7. Now i dont know what to do.

Any idea?

Prior to reinstalling, delete your Program Files/PostgreSQL directory. If you get back to the password problem, I suggest configuring PostgreSQl to not require a password which should resolve the issue.

How To: Remove PostgreSQL Password

Have you read my initial post in this thread? You need to manually download and install PostgreSQL 8.2.7 to resolve this issue.

i tried to install it manually but now i get an error when i initalise database cluster:

the specified data directory is not empty

if you have an existing database with the same mojor version number, you do not need to initalise a database cluster
if you have an existing database with a diffrent major version you need to backup your old databse and create a new one

Fish have a question who to solve this mess

History
(New Vista laptop and enough power to use the stats to help my game)
1. Download PT3 Beta and postgreSQL (20.3)
2. No errors in installation and PT3 beta opens but no hands goes in
3. Guestimated that something wrong with PT 3 and Postgre connection. Decided to leave and wait commercial version
Today
4. Decided to remove PT3 beta from file directory with old fashion delete
5. Decided to remove PostgreSQL from file directory with delete but in the process note appears " Need admin rights" even fish have admin rights, so some files del and some dont
6. Download PT3+PostgreSQL package, and install PT3, no errors
7. Run PT3 and click install postgresql link on db window
8. Uninstall Postgresql, no error
9.Run PT3 and click - Need PostgreSQL? Click here- link
10. try to install postgresl but message pops " Please use main MSI file to install Postgresql"
11. Search MSI from postgresgl directory but do not find it ??
12. Smartass download PT3+Postgresql package again, install it but get the same "Please use main MSI file to install Postegresql"
13 Goes to forum and read this thread and decides to get even smarter and download Postgresql earlier version
14. Run PT3 and hits -Need PostgreSQL? Click here- with same end result

So this donk is really out of his craft. Really would like to use PT3 but need some serious help. What I need to do now?

When you get to the step to initialize the database, uncheck it. SInce you previously had PostgreSQL installed your database is still there. Unless if you no longer need your previous database and want to delete your main PostgreSQL directory before installing; either method will work.

Double click the zip file. On the left hand side it says "Extract Files" or something to that affect...

Download PostgreSQL 8.2.7 from the link in this thread's OP. Extract the zip file and run the file named 'postgresql-8.2.msi'. You do not start PokerTracker 3 until after you have manually installed PostgreSQL...

Hi Derek -

I am still using PT2 but tried to download this version of PostqreSQL and I recieved a message at the end of installation (after I had entered my username, password, etc) that stated that my error code was 2755? I looked through the thread and didn't see anyone else having the same problems...any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That is a Microsoft Installer error. Have you already disabled 'User Account Control' and are under an administrative account?
