Merging Bovada hands so we can see them expose

Postby billy123 » Wed Oct 28, 2015 7:31 pm

Hi, I'm using the Bovada Card Catcher to import hands from Bovada. When I try to import that hands that I download from the Bovada client, PT4 says they are duplicates and doesn't import them. The problem is only the downloaded hands show my opp hands face up. How can I get PT4 to megre the download hands with the ones that are auto saved while I play so I can see my opp hands face up in the replays? Thanks

If a hand is already in your database it won't be re-imported - you would need to purge the hands first.

Thanks. Anyway to save the marks I put on hands to review during play after the purging/re-import?

No - a mark is linked to a hand in the database. If you purge it then the mark will be removed too.

Sorry, forgot to reply. So how do I make this work without purging the hands? No way to just merge the live hands with the downloading ones? It's kind of pointless if I can't review the hands I mark with the cards face up, that's the whole advance on the anonymous play on Bovada.

Bovada isn't a supported site so there isn't anything in PT4 specifically for that. You could add notes to the hands and export the notes (Database > Notes) before you purge and then import the notes again after re-importing the hands. However, that would be more long-winded and would also duplicate any other notes you have in your database each time.

Hi WR, I finally got around to trying exporting the notes, then importing them back after a purge and it didn't work. The hands that I marked as review just didn't appear again for the tourney I purged. Any other idea that I can try? Can the next update address this issue? It really does suck that we can't just merge the downloaded hands with the ones being importing live so we can see the hole cards. Thanks

Maybe I'm not exporting the notes correctly. Do I have to click on anything other than just going to database -> notes -> export? I checked out the file it creates and it looks blank like this in notepad:
{ "PT4.Notes": {
"players": [
],
"hands": [
]
} }

Did you actually make any hand notes as suggested? Only player/hand notes are exported when exporting notes and not hand marks.

No, FH. Guess we've been misunderstanding each other. I don't use the player/hands notes. I only use the option to tag hands as a "review" or "bad/good" call etc. Is there anyway to export the hands that tag for "review"?
