Unable to connect to database

Postby cnapmak » Wed May 28, 2008 4:37 pm

Hi, I tried searching this forum but found no fixes. I already have postgreSQL set up with PT2. I'm unable to install PT3 or install SQL.

Are you installing the "PT3 without postgres" version?
What error are you getting?

When I configure PostgreSQL I'm unable to connect to the database. I think I have the right settings. Im instaling the version with the PostgreSQ, I will try the other version now.

Attempting to reinstall PostgreSQL on top of itself causes some noticible problems.

First, back up your hand histories in PokerTracker 2 via Utilities --> Export Hand History to Disk... and exporting all of your hands to anew blank directory. Then try uninstalling it and reinstalling it via this link and hopefully that should resolve your issues.

Are you gonna write what you did to fix it GloserkinG?

Anyways, I have the same annoying problem.
Basicly, ive downloaded PT3, installed PT3, ran the SQL 8.3 that was enclosed in the download from this site.
I believe i had a previous postgresql installed, though i uninstalled that. (never think i got it to work)
I believe the postgresql 8.3 installation went ok, but im not sure, since im really have no clue.
Anyways, when i now try to run PT3 now, i dont get any futher than:
"Configure PostgreSQL Server", where i have the standard settings and leave the password blank.
I have changed the password in the pg_hba file to "trust" as instructed elsewhere on this site.
Though i still get "Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration"

I suppose there is something wrong with the postgreSQl settings or installation?

Ive spent like 6 hours googling forth and back, so would appreciate if someone could help out here. Im would assume its something simple after alle. Maybe ive installed the wrong postgreSQL, or whatever.

Ive fixed my own problem.

Basicly I did not complete the postgreSQL instalation proporly. Think it was the "server configuration" part, where I did not type the right account / pass. After the propor installation of postgreSQL, the instalation of PT3 went fine, and so far the progrom looks very nice.
