restore (only) PT 4 database from time-machine

Postby pokeraph » Thu Dec 24, 2015 1:34 pm

Hello,

My problem is i recently had to re-install my OS (upgrading to El Capitan, during the move) due to problems. So, i am starting fresh from a new OS. I want to restore my old PT4 database, but i don't know how and/or which file copy. I am not a computer geek so it si difficult to me. I tried but did not succeed. To make it clearer, i don't want to restore my time-machine back up and all its configuration etc, but only the PT4 DB.

Which file should i look for on my time-machine back-up ?
Do you happen to know if it possible to restore a DataBase from a time-machine back-up without using the whole TM BU (because i don't want my old OS back) ? It should be, shouldn't it?

For future reference the best thing to do would have been to make a Backup of your database before you upgraded, then you could just restore that.

It should be possible to copy across the PostgreSQL "data" folder from your backup to the same location on your new OS and then install the same PostgreSQL version as you previously had, which should allow the old databases to be used, but you may find that it will be easiest to re-import your hand histories to a new database - by default these will be in:
/Users/USERNAME/Documents/PokerTracker/Processed

Any idea, why when I "import from disk" from my time-machine to PT4 my 3 years data , i get only 283 MTTs appearing to my name (in 888 ) ??
It took some 6-7hours to import those datas, so where are they ?!

Thanks.

What did it say on the Import Status box in the bottom left of the Play Poker sidebar? Were there a lot of duplicates?

There were some ks over the 26k hands. I don't remember exactly how many, but certainly not a little number : some Ks, maybe 10.

26,000 / 283 is roughly 92 hands per tournament on average. That seems a bit high but not outlandish especially if you had any hands from other sites included.

I definitly have much more than 283 tournaments on 888 (my main concern right now as i don't play much anymore on stars). I know there are a lot of missing mtts for sure. Please, tell me what to do. I am ready to desinstall/reinstall.
26k hands is for my whole poker hands, (every sites). Not 100% sure of the number though. Sorry. Did not memorized it.
As I said, i have the whole time-machine on external drive. I should have backed it up, but forgot again. So now, should i simply "get hand from disk", selecting the whole "precessed" folder of my time-machine ? It does not seem to work.

Thank you.

What happens when you run Get Hands From Disk on your Processed folder? If it has all of your hands that would certainly get any that are missing back in your database.

I already did merge the old (time-machine) processed file with the all new from the freshly installed PT4 and it did give what i was describing you: an (very) incomplete database of MTTs.
