Database update ?

Postby beck2night » Wed Nov 29, 2017 6:40 am

Hey I downloaded the new update yesterday and got prompted to also update the database. It's been about 15 hours since that database update started and when I click the close button PT4 says I should wait for the process to complete on its own. There is also not a real progress bar so I'm not sure if the update is even going anywhere.

I have about 1.8m hands and use i5 processor. Both PT4 and PostgresQ are on SSD hard drive. Should I wait more or is it bugged?

If you open your Windows Task Manager are any PostgreSQL processes still using CPU?

I've asked for clarification on this as it seems like this is taking longer than it should. Is the database update/PostgreSQL process still running?

Yes it's been around 25 hours now. BTW in this screenshot you can see that the new NoteCaddy is actually running as a background process aswell taking some resources aswell even though im not using it and I ended the task earlier from task manager and its started again.

If you have signed up for the NoteCaddy Beta and have unprocessed notes before doing the database update then PokerTracker 4 will not open until all notes have been processed. We are investigating why that's happening and I suspect that the database update has completed so if you go ahead and shutdown PokerTracker 4 and restart it things should go back to normal.

How big is your database? Are you signed up for NoteCaddy and is that running in task manager also?

Restarted the pc. Ran PT4 and got prompted to update the database. Declined and clicked on the show notecaddy. Turns out it actually has imported only 1/2 my hands till now. I clicked the vacuum database option as Notecaddy suggests in the screenshot.

Can I somehow stop that because its gonna take another full day and update the database for PT4 and start using it?

P.S. Just checked when I click on database management the PostgresQL version is 9.3.9.

In NoteCaddy go to 'File -> Settings' and disable 'Automatically start note taking process at launch', restart PokerTracker 4 and then try the database update again.
