Database Error

Postby hdegou » Thu Aug 22, 2024 7:55 am

I'm not sure what happened. I can't no longer get into poker tracker.
I'm super afraid that I'll loose access to my database/hand histories. I haven't made a backup in about 6 months.

Anyone knows what to do now?

Please do this:

1. Confirm where your PostgreSQL is, probably here:

/Library/PostgreSQL/x

where x is your PostgreSQL version.

2. Open a terminal window via "Utilities". In the terminal window copy/paste this:

sudo rm /Library/PostgreSQL/x/data/postmaster.pid

Substitute the "x" in that command with the correct version number (e.g. 9.6, 10, 12, 16)

You want to delete "postmaster.pid" so answer "y" if the command finds it.

3.  Next reboot, press/hold the "Alt/Option" key while starting PokerTracker 4 to enable logging and click through any messages.

If PokerTracker 4 still does not start correctly attach these files to a Support Ticket where a technician can follow up with you:

--> /Users/{Mac Login}/Library/Application Support/PokerTracker 4/Logs/PokerTracker4.log

--> Your newest 3 or 4 PostgreSQL log files:

Guide: PostgreSQL log files

Note in that guide how to properly set and reset the PostgreSQL folder permissions on macOS - if the permissions aren't correctly restored PostgreSQL won't be able to restart.

No help, the postmaster.pid wasn't found. I'm sending the ticket now.

Folks all I've done is update the software when prompted and now I'm having all sorts of issues, including backups and lost hands etc. This message is displayed when opening the app. I am a paying customer, I expect this to be resolved asap or I will be cancelling my subscription and requesting a full refund.

I look forward to a prompt full resolution and update. Thanks

With the same error can you please follow the instructions I posted above. Thank you:

If PokerTracker 4 still does not start correctly attach these files to a Support Ticket where a technician can follow up with you:

--> Your newest 3 or 4 PostgreSQL log files:

Man, you should not be giving your users ambiguous, unclear instructions to follow and having us follow around postgres crumbs in our file system

I will raise a support case now but here's the facts: everything else used to work fine, your product changed something and now here we all are wasting our time.

My last back up was May apparently. Where are all my summer files? This is a terrible user experience.
