Attn: Vista Users Installing PostgreSQL 8.3

It says that the program auto-generates the password if I leave the password field blank. However it doesn't allow that either

The password needs to be at least 10 characters long, with one capital letter, one lowercase letter, one number and one symbol according to the PostgreSQL documentation.

I have Windows Vista and installed all files of PostgreSQL accept for PostGIS1.3.2 which wont install.
Should I delete everything and reinstall the older version of PostgreSQL?

Which version of postgres did you try to install?
I understand that you need to use 8.2.7 on Vista at the moment, as there is a problem with 8.3 as in the OP.

I finished installing 8.2 now, but when I want to login with PT3 it keeps saying unable to connect to database, please check configuration.
I am losing my mind with this

first i didn't but then i had to uninstall postgres version 8.3 so I had to install 8.2 separately

so post back how your configured the 8.2 install; including db creation, passwords, ports...

I didn't change anything, it created a password which I wrote down and I created one password.

Server: Local host
Database user: postgres (I think i made this postgresss but also cant login with that)
port: 5432
password: created random
