Importing from PT2 hand histories takes too long and crashes

Postby Chaser8 » Sun Feb 10, 2008 2:33 am

I followed your advice and exported all of my hands from PT2 into HH files. I then used PT3 to import. At first PT3 imported very fast at 300h/s, but after a few hours it slowed to a crawl at 6h/s. I have about 2million hands in my database.

Sometime during importing from these HH's, PT3 even crashed. I think everytime I've tried to import for longer than 1-2 hours, windows pops up with an error msg saying an error occurred while running PT3. It was the same msg as I got when I tried to convert from PT2 into PT3 directly. PT3 can run while the error msg pops up as long as I don't click the send or no-send buttons on the error window. The only problem is that the import process takes way too long.

i just tried to import some HH's again this time with a smaller group (7000 files). However, PT3 crashed again. I noticed that the "hands imported" counter stops counting hands (at about 65,000 hands). Even though the "time elapsed" counter still keeps going. One interesting thing I found was that the hands/second counter also keeps going, but it gradually decreases in speed.

I have exactly the same issue.
The problem is this: PT3 stops importing at all. Thats the reasing the number decreases. And it can not be stopped.

The problem occured with hands from PokerStars.

I "solved" it by deinstalling and happily continuing with PT2 :)

Yeah, there are some bugs with the conversion, where it seems to lock up at certain points. If you export hand histories and import them into PT3, you should have no problems.

That's exactly what I did. Read my OP and 2nd post.

Sounds like you've found a "problem hand" type bug.

Ideally locate the troublesome hand history file (IIRC it imports in alphabetical order of filename) - and see if importing the single file will cause crash... if so - attach to a support ticket so Josh can fix the problem :)

Oh, my mistake. The next beta version should fix the remaining import crashes, so please wait until that's released.
