PT3b14 Hangs on Start

Running on laptop with Vista - accessing db on second (XP) machine. The program started fine for the last few weeks - all of a sudden it hangs on the opening screen until I shut it down from Task Manager. I have tried uninstall/reinstall of PT3, disabling firewalls on both machines and have confirmed config settings for postgres. Postgres is running on XP machine and PT3 starts
normally on that machine.

I am pretty sure that when I was setting this up there would be an error message if PT couldn't access postgres - there are no such messages now so I'm not sure that access to the db is the problem. Task Manager says PT3 not responding. This is a purchased/registered copy and not the trial if that makes any difference.

Any ideas?

There is a known issue with PT3 occasionally freezing at startup, but this is normally fixed by a re-install.

Please enable logging, reproduce the problem and submit your PokerTracker.log to the
Support system , and link to this thread.

I would love to be able to enable logging - but I can't start PT3 - and the instructions at your link require that PT3 be running to
do this.

Ah, sorry - I thought those instructions included how to enable logging without starting PT3.
Open the C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3 Alpha\Data\Config\PokerTracker.cfg
..and make sure it says

[General]
Logging=Y

You may need to change N to Y, or you may need to add the Logging=Y line to the [General] section.

OK ticket has been submitted, but I have discovered the problem. The SP3 upgrade to XP turned on the Windows Firewall which must have been overriding the SPF that I use. Turning off Windows Firewall solved the problem.

Also, this was only half the problem. On the reinstall I followed the network instructions from your FAQ entry

viewtopic.php?f=45&t=4638

that states:

"simply add the line below to the bottom of your document:

host all all 192.168.0.0/32 md5


Save and exit."

This is a little misleading as it would not allow me to log on to the db. I had to use 192.168.1.0/24.

OK, thanks for letting us know.
If you could please reply to your ticket saying that the problem is fixed and the ticket can be closed, that will save us some time.
I'll let prajna know about the networking thing.
