this is retarded, i guess i need to accept the fact you guys arent gonna fix it.

What are you refering to?

the non-stop access violation crashes that have failed to get any attention in the last 4 versions.

I've had various problems with previous versions, but beta 15 is the first version that I've had the access violation crash with.

Play on two machines within the same database. XP with the Db on, Vista with a remote connection. I play on two site: Everest and iPoker.
XP works all fine, HUD on Vista does not work with Everest.
Beta 15 on the Vista seems to work with iPoker ... did not do extended testing, but it works for 15 minutes without stopping (as it did with beta 14)

1. What site you are playing on
Everest & iPoker

2. What kind of table you are playing on (cash or tournament, 6 max or full ring)
6max

3. How many tables you are playing on
two for testing (total 4)

4. Whether renaming your Layouts.pt3 file to Layouts.backup and restarting PT3 helps the problem any
Sometimes needs to restart HUD on XP with Everest. restart or what so ever does no help on XP/Everest. There is completely nothing ....

5. How many databases you are using and how many hands are in each database
1 db about 40000

6. If you play multiple sites, is the problem isolated to one of them, or does it occur on all
See beginning

7. Reproduce the problem, then attach the PokerTracker.log, PokerTrackerHud.log and the Layouts.pt3 file to the ticket
Will follow

Hi, when I installed the update and then tried to start pokertracker, it just froze on the loading screen. I left it there for a couple of hours (unsure how long) but eventually ctrl-alt-deleted my way out of it.

Anyway, I was completely unable to actually get past the loadscreen until I rebooted my computer, at which point I get this message when it finally loads:
unable to login to database (PT3 DB) reason: server closed the connection unexpectedly this probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request
As a result I can't access any of my hands.

I was running a fair few heavy programs (including PTO iirc) while installing the update so I guess something got in the way..? I'm hoping this doesn't mean all my hands are gone?

I've not seen this error message mentioned anywhere in this thread so.. help?

It was only 20-30k hands and I mostly play PLO these days so it's not the end of the world, but still..

Please keep specific issues out of the main thread.

That probably means that postgres isn't running.
In Task Manager / Processes - do you see any postgres processes?

Try restarting it - Start -> Programs -> Postgres -> Start Service.
Now can you see any?

Oh I'm sorry, didn't realize this wasn't the place, but since you answered I guess I should continue here rather than make a new thread?

There are several postgres.exe's running just fine, and if I remember correctly, they were running just fine the first time I tried starting too (ie, yesterday).

I would suggest re-installing PT3 as a first step. Make sure nothing else is running.
If that doesn't solve it, please start a new thread in the Tech Support forum: viewforum.php?f=16

Okay, just to be sure, does the update happen silently (that is, in the background) after I've installed the new version or does it happen the first time I start the program?

Also this is potentially a silly question, but re-installing = uninstall and install again or is it fine to just run the new beta update again? If I go for a complete uninstall, doesn't this delete my handhistory database?

Sorry if these are obvious questions.

just installed beta 15, and also experienced a 4-second update to my large database.

i've read this thread, and see that others are having this problem. i have yet to see a posted solution. is there one?

Just install over the top. Stop PT3 first.
Download and install PT3.

The full DB change isn't done at start up, you then need to a Cluster/Vacuum/Analyse manually.
