Cannot connect to server ! internal error

Postby fbg1919 » Wed Aug 06, 2008 4:34 pm

I had a lil rootkit that I had to remove manually that used to block some of my connections w/Mozilla (mail google , web pages etc). Along with those, PT couldn't connect to server also.
Well I took care of the rootkit, everything else works fine but PT still won't connect to the server. Which leads me to believe it somehow affected the settings of PT or there is a problem with PostgresSQL.

Anyhow, I get this message upon opening PT3 :

Unable to login to database (PT3 DB). Reason: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

Checked in PGAdmin, all is well and same settings are there.. no pass filed but I guess that/'s common, how do I fix this ?

Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> Start Services to start the PostgreSQL server.

If that doesn't start the server properly, search for and delete the postmaster.pid file and then the server should come up normally.

It's a hidden file - have a look in the Database / Postgres FAQ where this is mentioned.

I think the point is to delete the postmaster file if it exists, so if it isn't there that won't be it.
If you open Task Manager / Processes, do you see any postgres processes?
