Right now I cant open my PT3, would this mean that my database is completely gone when i remove pt3? or is there any other way to replace or keep my database?

I *think* that when you uninstalled postgres you would have lost the information about the databases, unless you backed them up first.
If the postgres folder is still in place then you may be able to recover them and back them up before doing the re-install, but we'll need a postgres expert to tell you how to do this.

if your postgres 8.3 folders are still intact (this is where your original populated db was, right?), you can try recovering the database: start with this,

pg_dumpall -U postgres > c:\pgbackup from the postgres 8.3 bin folder via a DOS command prompt...

you'll need your random password to be entered a few times...

Will this still work if postgres was uninstalled?

it might do if the un-installer leaves the postgres username and the shell folders...worth a shot anyway...

if not i hope the OP has his/her processed hh's...

this is my first time using pokertracker and im having a couple problems. I am running windows vista and downloaded version 3.0 beta15 and when i try to run the program it says i should right click the pokertracker icon, go to advanced settings and click run as administrator, so i did, reopened the program only to find the same prompt. After several attempts to reopen i had no success. So i clicked let me continue and ran into another problem when it said configure my postgreSQL. The version i downloaded said 'without postgreSQL' so i have no idea why its asking me...And to further complicate things it needs a password to configure and i have no idea where to get the password. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeremy

if you have no postgres already, download beta 15 bundle with postgres; it'll configure the postgres service and database for you - make sure UAC is off.

Derek wrote: "The username 'postgres' must have already been used during a previous installation attempt and on the future attempt you could not recreate the user.

For reference, to get around this problem you can delete the postgres account by going Start->Run, 'cmd' -> OK then type 'net user postgres /delete' and the command prompt.

Ok.................................

I tried all the other fixes mentioned in this thread but I am having problems with this one. When I attempt the dos command I get hit with this:

"The syntax of this command is:

NET USER
[username [password ¦ *] [options]] [/DOMAIN]
username {password ¦ *} /ADD [options][DOMAIN]
username [/DELETE][/DOMAIN]
usernme [/TIMES:{times ¦ ALL}]"

????????
