Beta 16 housekeeping

Postby kwatson7 » Thu Aug 28, 2008 9:41 am

I did housekeeping and kept all 4 options checked. It is at 14 hours now and still 0%. I have clustered before and it definitely only took around 2 hours not 10, what is going on, and of course I can't cancel.

Have you defragged your hard drive lately? I've noticed that on a fragmented drive, clustering and caching takes much longer to complete.

I second that problem. I tried housekeeping and it refuses to go further than 0 percent complete. And yes I defrag regularly. i have Vista and gave PT3 administrator rights.

The percentage is misleading - it will stay on 0% until it has finished the first action, and clustering can take a long time so it will stay at zero till that is finished.

Let me repeat what I said. It has been 14 hours and I have clustered before and it only takes 2 hours. And yes i have fragmented.

I was just going to post that I noticed that the percentage meter is misleading ;)
I tried to only update cache and it said 0 % until it suddenly was finished after a while.
14 hours seems way to long, I just finished the rest of the housekeeping without updating cache, it only took me 4 minutes (171k hands)

You can terminate PT3 and restart the housekeeping - it shouldn't take that long..

Why would it work better the second time around. I have a feeling the same thing is going to happen? I agree that it shouldn't. Yet it does. There are many things int PT3 that shouldn't happen, yet they still do.

Did you try it again? Sometimes something can stick in postgres with the clustering, so try restarting it.
