Are you using Vista or XP?
What version of postgres do you have installed? (Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL 8.x ; what is x?)

If anyone has a small database that fails to create the cache successfully, please enable logging, reproduce the problem and submit your PokerTracker.log file to the Support system , and link to this thread in the reference field of the ticket so that we can investigate.

Hi WR

I am using Windows 2000 and have version 8.3 installed. My database is small and i will do what you have said.

Thanks - I wonder if it's to do with Windows 2000, but hopefully Josh will be able to get something out of your log file.
Anyone else?

Thanks.
OK, and your's is an older version of postgres..

It may be that there is something in the cache creation that needs XP/Vista, and postgres 8.3..

WhiteRider, I have had similar problems with the cache saying it has been created then when I restart PT3, it says it can't find a cache. (have posted in alpha thread, as thought it was an update from alpha to beta issue). Just posted here to say I am running postgres 8.3 on a windows xp machine, and with alpha release cache was building fine.

WR

I assume that all of this will be fixed to accomodate all mainstream operating systems?!! (2000, XP, Vista)

I am quite disappointed by the fact that these roll-outs don't seem to be robustly tested in advance, meaning that several users on update end up with a non-functional program until a fix is obtained.

It is difficult to justify losing days of play, so it would be useful if PT only releases stuff which works.

In defence of PT, I will say that PT2 never let me down and was solid as a rock.

PT3 is superior (when it works) to PT2, but it is too buggy!!

Why is there such a contrast between the two pieces of software? It's almost as if they are from two totally different organisations.

I look forward to a fix for this DB problem and I pray that further releases will not result in days of play lost. I am not after a refund, since the refund doesnt make any difference to my bottomline (its only a fraction of a buy-in) but I need to state that I assumed PT3 would be as rock-solid as PT2 when I purchased it -- an assumption based upon my fantastic experiences with PT2.

I will, for the moment, be patient since I believe that PT3 functionality (once PT3 is up and running) is superior to alternative software out there. PT3 is the best s/w out there when it works !!

I apologize for my tone and I am not usually one to complain, but I just feel very disappointed

As oracle says above, the cache worked in alpha testing, no-one reported this problem so we didn't expect it in the beta, but of course there are a lot more people using the beta versions.
Yes, we will get it fixed for win2k as well.

Thank you WR.

I know that everything will end up being OK... PT2 was great and I know PT3 will be.

I just hope that things can be fixed quickly, cos I prefer to play with a HUD.
