When you double click it, does it open like another folder to show you more postgres files?

yes, 4 of them

If so, create another folder somewhere else (not inside this one) and drag the files from the .zip folder to the new folder. You should be able to run the installer from there.

i have done this, i have tried to run installer from there (still no extraxt anywhere) the times that i have somehow got it to start installing it says something about an error have to run from MSI something.

If it's not a zip file, then you have probably downloaded the wrong thing.

it is a zip file.

Follow the link to 8.3.3 that I gave above and try again.

i will try this

thanks

i have got to the stage where it is installing, but it says invalid username specified etc
i have read in this thread the same problem and the guy was told to run programs find postgre and do something with it, but he said he couldn't find it and was told that this is because it didn't install properly, well i cannot find the file named this either so i assume it hasn't installed correctly, but how can there be a file for it or how could it be installed correctly/incorrectly when i haven't installed it yet? what do i do now?

thanks

Follow the instructions at the start of the Total uninstall/reinstall of pt3 to make sure you remove all traces of postgres before starting the installer.

"In the password fields, type p0stgr3s. It will say, "user '(CPU NAME)/postgres' was not found."

The only way I managed to install PostgreSQL was when I unchecked the "install as service" button. But now PT3 doesn't seem to work because I specified no username or password in the installation.
anyone know if it can work the way i installed postgreSQL?

When I try to install PostgreSQL 8.2 properly, it always stops by "Creating User Account" and I get the error message saying "Internal account lookup failure"

help ?!?
