cant get passed the password requirement

Yes I have searched the forum before I posted this.

I am prompted to give a password, which I do not understand why by the way.. since it only causes problems for users..anyway I have none and I have tried "getting passed password prompt" by editing 'md5' to trust and so on, I have tried rebooting and I have tried reinstalling, this is pissing me off, second time this happens.
unable to connect to database...check configuration

what happend to user friendly programs? I have had more problems with Pt3 than any other program I have used.. also PT2 worked flawlessly, pt3 feels like a beta

It seems like I need postgreSQL username and password as well. I am trying to import hands so I can use table shark but postgreSQL is not connecting hence not allowing the hand to get imported! Help!

The problems you are having are to do with setting up postgres by the sound of it - not with PT3. We don't write postgres - it's a 3rd party database which we use, but the "PT3 with postgres" installer works flawlessly for most people, but some systems cause problems.
Did you install "PT3 with postgres" or install postgres manually?
Are you using Vista? Are you running PT3 as Administrator?

When you edited the file to say 'trust' did it save properly?

Re: your reg code, you can access it from My Account, but if you need help you should use the Support system.

nothing wrong with my system as I have used PT on it before.
I installed the correct PT3 version (latest with postresQL)
running xp wit latest updates
dont know what running PT as administrator is but I doubt I am as everything is default.
when I edited 'trust' I pressed save then exited, I dont know how else to save a .txt doc

I didn't mean you need to save it a different way, but Vista won't let you save it unless you run it as administrator, but since you're on XP that shouldn't be it.
If you re-open the file, are the changes you made still in place?

Are you sure you changed the correct bit?
Paste the section where you made the changes (I don't think there's any private info there, but edit it out if there is..)
