Can't install 8.3

I uninstalled 8.2 and PT3. I tried installing 8.3 when reinstalling PT3. The PT3 will not install 8.3. It tells me to install from the main directory setup file. That file will not install 8.3 because it says postgres already exists. I've unistalled everything and will try to go back to 8.2.

Now when I try to install 8.2, it won't complete because it says account postgres already exists. I'm not a computer neophite but I'm stumped.

Start->Run, "cmd", OK.

Type:
[codelj0]net user postgres /delete[/codelj0]

Then install PostgreSQL 8.3 with the PT3 installation files.

That worked. I had to install 8.3 from the setup program in the PT 3 folder. It would not let me install from the PT 3 screen. Then I received an error message about a missing file when I tried to create a database. However, when I tried again, it seemed that it created the database anyway and now I am reimporting my past hands.
