Something I neglected to mention in my post above: I started PT3 using the Run As Administrator command on the right-click menu.

Please select the last few files in C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\data\pg_log (they're dated so just pick the recent ones), right-click and choose 'Send To Compressed/zipped Folder', then attach the zip file to a ticket on the Support system, and link to this thread in the reference field of the ticket so that we can investigate.

WhiteRider: I did as you suggested. Tech Support replied, asking for some info on versions, and I provided the answers. That was 4 days ago, and no word since. I may have to try a different product, I guess.

When you replied, did you reply to the ticket or to the email? You need to click the link in the email and reply to the ticket.
What is the ticket number?

This ticket number is 37145. I told them I'm running XP Professional, and they explained that Postgres 8.3 doesn't work well with Vista. :?:

Just to close the loop and possibly help someone else: PT Tech Support found the problem and fixed it by running a program called Winsock XP Fix, which can be downloaded from www.snapfiles.com. Everything is fine now.

It's not a general problem, there will be something on your system which is preventing postgres running properly.
Please follow the steps suggested above.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling PT3 w/postgreSQl multiple times, i've turned off my anti-virus, and I dont have a firewall.. None of these steps have helped for any of the posters in this thread..
