Postby toltec444 » Thu Nov 06, 2008 2:21 pm

Hello, I have just intalled the trial verison of pokertracker 3 and when I enter the password at the "Cinfigure the PostgreSQL server" window it sends me a message saying: "Unable to connect to the this database. Check the configuration."
What can I do?

Thanks in advance

Did you install PostgreSQL? Click Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> Start Services to start the PostgreSQL service. If you don't see the "Start Services" link or the PostgreSQL folder then you don't have PostgreSQL installed and you will need to download and install PokerTracker 3 Build 3 with PostgreSQL from our download page.

If you have PostgreSQL installed, the default values are:
Server: localhost
Port: 5432
User: postgres
Password: dbpass

If this password does not work for you, you can disable password authentication by following the directions of this tutorial.

You may also want to try disabling your firewall as a misconfigured firewall can also give the error you are describing.

You are right, it was not installed. But during the installation I got this error message:

Faied to run initdb: 1!
Please see the log file "C:\Programs\files\PostgreSQL\8.3\tmp\initdb.log

I am using windows vista in a notebook
thanks

This error message occurs as a result of an incompatibility between PostgreSQL 8.3 and Windows Vista. In order to install PostgreSQL successfully, you will need to install PostgreSQL 8.2.9. You can download PostgreSQL 8.2.9 via this link: PostgreSQL 8.2.9. Once you have downloaded the file, unzip it, and run "postgresql-8.2.msi". You will need to remember the password you enter for the postgres user for the initial configuration of PokerTracker 3, so make sure to write it down in a safe place.
