i created a new database(because of mined hands), exactly like the first one.
it just has an other name ("pt3_mined", the first one was called "pt3_newdb"), but i also led this new database (for mined hands) into "pg_data".
could that be the problem?

alright, i will change back the postgres txt file to the old values. sadly i didn't save the prior one.

where can i find a the default settings of this txt file?

I haven't made any changes to my file, so you should be able to get the defaults from here.
This is from my 8.3.3 installation, so unless you are using the same version, I wouldn't just copy the whole file in - and if you do, rename yours first so you still have it if something goes wrong.

Click Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> psql to template1. This will open up a console window. In the console type:

CREATE TABLESPACE spare_disk LOCATION 'D:\\pg_data';

I got to this bit, no worries, however I do not get 'psql to template1' .... instead I get the same as other person "psql to posgres"

When I type in this (or even copy paste)CREATE TABLESPACE spare_disk LOCATION 'D:\\pg_data'; - I change the D to F (F is my database drive) I get "syntax error near F" I have tried removing the ' symbols but that makes no difference.

Any Ideas ?

However after running PT3 for the 1st time after install I connected to the database & I have imported a few hands and the used space on my database hard drive is increasing, does that mean it is working as it should utilising the extra hard drive even though I didn't complete the instructions in the 1st post ?

I don't *think* you'll get as much benefit on a single disk because the disk will still be doing other things as well.
It may mean that the postgres portion of the disk doesn't get as defragmented, but I don't think it will help that much.

Hi,

i have a new question:

is there something different now when i want to backup my DB?
is there a tutorial how i can make a backup?
or do i have to wait for a later version of PT3 in which backups will be possible?

thanks for your help

Have a look at the Database / Postgres FAQ for how to back up your database.

I get all the way to "\i schema.postgre.sql" - hit Enter and get "no such file or directory". I have schema.postgre.sql pasted on my external HD. Says I'm connected to pt3_newdb. Please assist. Thanks

What are you trying to do, exactly? What link are you following?
What is connected to "pt3_newdb"?

It sounds like you missed this step:

Click Start, click Run and type in "C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\Data\Schemas" and click ok. There is one file in here: schemas.postgre.sql. Right click on it, and click copy. Click Start, click Run type in D:\ and click ok. Right click in the window and click Paste to copy the schemas.postgre.sql to that location.

Alternately, you can just type:
Code: Select all
\i  C:\\Program Files\\PokerTracker 3\\Data\\Schemas\\schemas.postgres.sql

and that should do the exact same thing. Note all of the double backslashes.
